Thursday marks the national pavilion day of Mexico at the Shanghai World Expo. Under a theme of "Living Better", Mexico is displaying its history and future for visitors from around the world.

The Mexico Pavilion is a land of fantasy built with "Kites". The name for kite comes from a Nahuatl word "Papalotl" which means "Butterfly".

In Mexico, kites represent people's aspirations toward a better life. And the surface of these kites is made from environment-friendly plastic that provides protection against sun and rain.

Mexico is also known as the Kingdom of Cactus, because it has more varieties of cacti than any other country. The symbol of life in the desert has also inspired Mexican art for centuries. Today's artists also mix some modern urban issues into the traditional sculpture in the shape of a cactus.

And Mexico is one of the most popular travel destinations, offering the wonders of nature or distinctive exotic arts and culture. Mexico provides visitors both a diverse biodiversity of plants and animals and archeological sites of Maya, Olemca and Azteca or the historical cites from the Spanish colonial era.

The star of the Mexico Pavilion is the self-portrait of the country's most famous painter Frida Kahlo. Kahlo's work is remembered for its pain and passion and its intense, vibrant colors.
