Tango, football, barbecue, and wine...Argentina is presenting the best of what the country has to offer for visitors at the Shanghai World Expo.
Not only can people experience the authentic culture, but the Argentina Pavilion is also celebrating the Bicentennial of the country's independence and sending up a tribute to the achievements of its people and cities.
These are the runners up of the 2010 World Tango Championship.
They show the charm of Tango two performances a day at the Argentina Pavilion. Their moves will be particularly sharp on Thursday, which marks the National Pavilion Day of Argentina.
And not only do the Argentine people have quick feet on stage, but they display that talent on the football pitch as well. The country has won two World Cup championships so far, one in 1930 and another in 1978. And now they are hoping for a third trophy this year with Diego Maradona as head coach, leading a team that includes Lionel Messi, 2009 FIFA World Player of the Year.
Where does all the passion and energy in Argentina come from? No doubt, one of the sources is the food. And the star on the menu is barbecue.
Argentina is one of the world's major beef producers. And according to 2009 statistics, each average Argentinean consumes 54 kilograms of beef per year. In some years, that number can reach 120 kilograms. So, of course, all of the beef, as well as the wine served at the Argentina Pavilion is flown in... direct from Argentina.
