When tea meets acrobatics in Shanghai Expo

As we've been reporting, there are over 20,000 colorful performances for visitors to enjoy during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Among them are many acrobatic shows by Chinese artists. Let's take a look at one of them that stands out for its creativity and bold imagination.
An acrobatic show named "Tea" is put on four times everyday at one of the main halls in the expo zone. Acrobats enthrall audience members with their agility, perfect balancing skills, and breathtaking stunts.
And to reflect the process of making and serving tea, the graceful pliancy of contortionists provides a unique interpretation of the interactive atmosphere at a local tea house.
Audience Member, said, "My child was so into the show. We are all very familiar with the Chinese tea culture, and we think that interpreting the tea culture through artistic acrobatics is something novel and interesting."
Both acrobatics and tea are hold great significance in Chinese history and culture. As Cao Xin, from the show's directing team says, he hopes the performance can bring out the ease and grace of a Chinese tea ceremony.
Cao Xin, Director, Acrobatics "Tea", said, "What we were thinking about most during numerous rehearsals was how to seamlessly incorporate the stunning (acrobatic) skills with that of the tea culture, and to make it something new."
It took artists from Sichuan and Jiangxi acrobatic troupes two years to practice and perfect the show.
"Tea" runs at the expo zone in Puxi of Shanghai through June the 30th.
