Yinchuan municipal government's microblog @Yinchuan emerged as the Most Influential Chinese Governmental Microblog in 2011 according to a recent evaluation by ceirp.cn under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It was the first such evaluation for governmental microblogs since the agency began working independently in the selection of China's well-performing governmental websites in 2002. The agency said the @Yinchuan page has become a model for developing governmental microblogs in China. So far, the microblog has attracted 872,224 followers. By Nov. 20, more than 170 of Yinchuan's administrative and party organs had created their microblog accounts at sina.com.cn, offering the public a convenient exchange platform with the local government.
