Zhenbeipu Town of Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, plans to ensure that 90 percent of the town's families are equipped with satellite television receiving equipment by the end of this year, a move which enable more than 5,000 rural households in the town to gain free access to satellite TV programs, a staff member with the town's public service center said.

The town was designated as one of three areas of Ningxia to take part in pilot national satellite broadcasting service projects. To this end, free satellite television programs debuted in the town in September, with more than 1,000 households benefiting from the project.

One resident, Ma Fuhai, credited the pot-like satellite receiving equipment with delivering clearer cartoons to his great-granddaughter.
