A group of 498 villagers from 97 households in Xiji County of Guyuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region recently moved to the county's newly-built village for relocated people. The local government grants each household a 62 sm cottage and a cowshed as well as a set of solar heaters. Earlier this year, the Ningxia government unveiled its plan to invest 10.5 billion yuan (US$1.65 billion) to relocate 350,000 residents in 79,000 households living in the central and southern uninhabitable mountainous regions in 5 years in a bid to help them shake off poverty.
