The Tengger Desert wetland in Zhongwei City was credited as a provincial-level water conservancy scenic spot by Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The 1,667-hectare wetland has become the region's third desert tourist destination, next to Sand Lake and Shapotou Desert.
The scenic spot is developed from the existing lakes, grasslands, and cultural landscapes like the Great Wall historical site.
The first phase of the wetland park project has been finished, with a new 67-hectare green area. The park is expected to become a large ecologic tourism area that combines ecologic protection, aquaculture and sightseeing of amazing waters in the golden desert.
