A seven-day self-driving tour festival will kick off on June 18 in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in anticipation to attract thousands of motor cars and fan tourists from around the world.

The festival will feature eight big events involving self-driving sightseeing, motor race and motor culture exhibitions.

Motor fans and tourists will have fun through driving along the bank of Yellow River and golden desert land to experience profound Hui ethnic cultures, said Xue Gang, deputy chief of Ningxia Tourism Department.

Xue said that the festival will "establish a benchmarking status of Ningxia domestically in the field of motor sports and motor culture, develop an industrial chain spanning from motor culture and motor sports to self-driving tourism, and bring in growth in Ningxia cultural, sports, exhibition and tourism industries."

In addition, the West China Self-driving Forum will be held during the festival. Tourism experts and delegates of self-driving clubs from northwest China’s provinces will gather in Ningxia to map out the prospect of self-driving tourism development in the Wild West China and found a West China Self-driving Tourism Alliance.
