Ningxia has established economic and trade ties with more than 120 countries and regions, and key trade partners include the European Union, United States, Japan and Australia.

This has results in extensive cooperation and exchanges in industry, agriculture, science, technology, public health, culture, education, art, and sports. A number of production bases for export industrial and agricultural products have been set up.

For January to November of 2010, the import and export volume in Ningxia has reached 1.778 billion US dollars, including exports of 1.063 billion US dollars.

In the same period, the total value of imports and exports for the general trade reached 1.761 billion US dollars, up 66.6% compared to the same period in 2009; exports reached 1.054 billion US dollars. The total value of imports and exports for the processing trade amounted to 12.07 million US dollars.

By the end of November, the export of 30 key enterprises totaled over 752 million US dollars.

During the period, the total value of imports and exports for foreign-funded enterprises amounted to 287 million US dollars, up 44.4% compared to the same period in the previous year.

The import of high and new technology products increased by 77.5% compared to the same period in 2009 and the export increased by 36.4%, reaching 351 million dollars.

The export of biological medicine, cashmere goods and the products of beryllium, tantalum and niobium has driven the rapid growth of foreign trade export in Ningxia.
