The Bright Top, the second highest peak of Mount Huangshan (1,860 meters above sea level) forms a loop on the top of the mountain with the Cloud-Dispersing Pavilion, the Beihai Hotel and the White Goose Ridge.
The mountaintop loop will allow you a 360-degree view of the spectacular sceneries of Mount Huangshan. You can also stay here overnight for some romantic sunrise and sunset watching.
You can take the Yuping Cableway to Jade Screen Pavilion and then ascend to the Bright Top by walking around 2.5 hours, take the Yungu Cableway to the Purple Cloud Station and walk from there to the Cloud-Dispersing Pavilion for some 10 minutes, or just take the Taiping Cableway up to the White Goose Ridge.
It will cost you about 40 minutes to walk from the Bright Top to the Cloud-Dispersing Pavilion and along the way you will see the mountain's famous scenic spot, the "Flying-over Rock." The 39-feet-high, 8-meter-long and 360-ton-heavy rock stands on a tiny flat ledge and gives the illusion of tipping over at any time. It was also featured in the opening of the Chinese TV series “Dream of the Red Chamber,” adapted from the same-name classic novel.
On the way from the Cloud-Dispersing Pavilion to the Beihai Hotel (about 40 minutes), you will pass the Xihai Hotel.
Going from the Beihai Hotel to the White Goose Ridge (around 25 minutes), you will encounter an oddly shaped rock called "Flower Growing out Of A Writing Brush." The tall rock stands alone and upright, with a pine growing right on top of it.
Afterwards, you can go back to the Bright Top from the White Goose Ridge (35 minutes); on the way you will pass by the White Goose Guesthouse.
