Barkhor Street

The Barkhor (simplified Chinese: 八廓; pinyin: bākuò) is an area of narrow streets and a public square located around Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, Tibet.

The Barkor is a popular devotional resort for pilgrims and locals. The walk is about one kilometer long and encircles the entire Jokhang. There are various shops on the street which sell Tibetan religious articles such as prayer wheels and Tibetan handicraft products such as Tibetan knives. It is always busy with buyers.
