A Song dynasty (960-1279) tomb containing a couple buried together was unearthed on the campus of Zhejiang Normal University on January 11.
The tomb, found in a gymnasium construction site, has two chambers. The husband was buried in the north chamber, in which a light rack and some ancient coins were found. The wife's chamber is in the south of the tomb. Some precious items were unearthed, including a valuable jade pendant, a puff box, a bronze mirror 16 centimeters in diameter, dozens of ancient coins and an unidentified canakin.
The female owner of the tomb was a second-generation rich woman who lived 800 years ago, according to the analysis of an expert.
