Fuzhou-based Shenzhen Airlines — a subsidiary of the national flag carrier, Air China — has announced that it will increase the frequency of flights linking Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province.
From September 1, 2010 the number of round-trip flights will be increased to 14 per week from the current six per week.
Shenzhen Airlines opened the Fuzhou to Tokyo route on April 6, 2010. Outbound flights to Tokyo depart Fuzhou at 08:20 local time every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Return flights leave Tokyo at 17:10, local time.
Japan is has a sizable population of overseas Fujian people, the majority of whom originate from Fuqing in Fuzhou.
