Shanghai World Expo visitors exceed 5 mln

The cool and comfortable weather in Shanghai instilled a good mood for travel in Shanghai World Expo visitors and the daily number of Shanghai World Expo visitors reached 311,400 on May 23, an increase of 28 percent compared with the 239,300 visitors on May 16.

The total number of Shanghai World Expo visitors has now exceeded 5 million, and the operations of the Shanghai World Expo Garden are stable and in good order.

Chen Xianjin, deputy director of the Coordination Bureau of the Shanghai World Expo, said the flow of visitors at the Shanghai World Expo is expected to reach a small peak and exceed 300,000 each day from May 24 to May 30.

"The daily average number of visitors who have a Shanghai World Expo reservation this week reached 140,000, and the number of visitors who have reservations on Saturday reached 180,000, and the daily average number of visitors during the Expo will exceed 300,000," said Chen.

"It took seven days for the number of visitors to reach 1 million after the Shanghai World Expo opened, and five more days to reach 2 million, another four days each to reach 3 million and 4 million, and just three days more to reach 5 million," Chen said.
