Bargain-hunting tourists would prefer to visit Las Vegas, China, Latin America, South Africa and take Caribbean cruises for attractive holiday deals in 2010, according to a global Internet media company.
Travelzoo said a majority of US tourists, still mired in the economic downturn, are expected to take their vacations this year on the basis of carefully calculated plans.
"Our travel intentions survey reported that an overwhelming majority of people will need a deal to travel in 2010," said Gabe Saglie, a senior editor at the company.
Travelzoo forecast cruises charging less than $50 a night, given input from 140 travel experts around the globe, and children-free promotions and onboard credit will be provided on cruise lines, contributing to luring more visitors.
"Not to mention these 'floating hotels' bundle several islands and all meals into one itinerary, eliminating the need for multiple airfares and hotels," the company said.
Countries in Latin America, particularly Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama provide deals and flights will be increased to facilitate travel, the survey showed
Favorable exchange rates to the US dollar, plus bargains on luxury hotels will make China another favored destination.
Travelers to Las Vegas could cut down on expense, as a decline in tourism and business in the gambling mecca is beneficial for visitors.
The FIFA World Cup, to be held from June 11 to July 11 in South Africa, will attract soccer fans and visitors, and safari companies and hotels are devising deal packages accordingly.
