China and Vietnam are planning to build a "China-Vietnam International Tourism Cooperation Zone" on the border of the two countries to attract more tourists from China, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Chen Jianjun, the director of Guangxi Tourism Administration, said after the completion of the zone, Chinese tourists might be able to visit Vietnam border only with their valid ID cards, while tourists from ASEAN countries will be able to visit China without visas.
Chen believes the zone will promote cooperation and exchange between China and ASEAN countries in tourism, and some barriers to travel barriers might be eliminated. Discussions on the scope, scheduling, and functions of the zone are now in process.
