Mengla County is situated at the southernmost point of southwest China, bordering Laos at its east, south and southwest, and Myanmar to the west. The special tropical climate here has created a wonderful scenic tropical rainforest. It is nicknamed the “Kingdom of Plants” and there are huge Banyan trees, numerous exotic plants, some with leaves that look like boats or umbrellas. It also has many rare and precious species, such as wild elephants, wild ox, tigers, leopards, peacocks, hornbills, gibbons, golden-haired monkeys, parrots, and spotted civet cats.
