In cycling, China finished its race in first place for the women's track cycling team sprint, but was bumped to second for an infringement. Germany won gold. The Chinese team's coach said the judges' disqualification had robbed Guo Shuang and Gong Jinjie of a gold medal.

After insistent requests from the Chinese team, the judges showed them a video, which did not display any clear acts of infringement. The Chinese team was also fined 200 Swiss Franc for complaining. It then appealed to the International Cycling Union (UCI) and International Olympic Committee, but the appeal got rejected. The UCI said that the team had made an early relay, but refused to give any further explanation.
