Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing take the first three spots in city competitiveness in China last year, according to an annual report published Friday by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
In this year's report, the ninth edition of the Blue Book on Urban Competitiveness, Changsha and Hangzhou edge out Gaoxiong and Qingdao to make their way onto the top 10 spots.
In terms of provincial competitiveness, Jiangsu Province outperforms other counterparts with 11 cities among the top 100 most competitive.
Of the 294 cities surveyed, Changsha made the biggest advance from the ranking for 2009 by jumping to the 9th spot from the 17th.
