Dr. Nasser named new AVC President

The Executive Committee of the Asian Volleyball Confederation agreed unanimously at a meeting here Monday to nominate AVC First Executive Vice-President Dr. Saleh Bin Nasser as new AVC President in place of FIVB President Wei Jizhong.

FIVB President Wei, present at the meeting, told the AVC Executive Committee members that after his election to the FIVB Presidency he had to relinquish his AVC Presidency and in accordance with the AVC Charter the AVC First Executive Vice-President is to take his place.

All AVC Executive Committee members present accepted Wei's proposal. The meeting also accepted Dr. Nasser's proposal to name Dr. Sivanthi Adityan, AVC Executive Vice-President for AVC Western Zone, as new AVC First Executive Vice-President.

Dr. Nasser expressed his appreciation to Wei for his work at the Asian Confederation.

FIVB President Wei told the meeting that he will not seek re-election after his term expires in 2012.
