The junior team of the Flamengo soccer club had a great surprise on Monday afternoon. Ronaldo, on his 32nd birthday, returned to the soccer field to train with the ball in his stage of recuperation.
Monday's practice was the first of Ronaldo's with a live ball on the field. It was his first since February 13th of 2008 after re-injuring his left knee.
"It was yet another birthday present. It was great to be able to return to the field. It was not planned, but I loved every minute of it. The sensation was marvelous," said Ronaldo.
Ronaldo took part in physical activity for more than an hour and a half. In the beginning, he took part in a quick passing drill and then moved on to physical workouts and stretches.
The striker has been at the Flamengo soccer club in hopes of rekindling his future as a professional. His future, however, is uncertain as he continues to run into trouble.
His last run-in with trouble took place on Sunday night when he was held back by his brother-in-law from driving after having drunk. Ronaldo was ready to fight and even took off his shirt, but was held back and sent home by taxi.
