The Swimming South African authorities have made it clear that there will be no ban on the use of the new swimsuits.

The controversial new swim suits being widely used overseas and said to be responsible for any number of record breaking performances have been given the green light for use at the Telkom South African Aquatic championships currently under way at the Kings Park complex in Durban this week.

The Swimming South African president Jace Naidoo disclosed as much at a media briefing Tuesday afternoon.

He said that swimwear does not affect personal achievements and that records are broken by swimmers and that the gear they wear does not have any serious affect on performance levels.

They even quipped that even if a swimmer were able to compete in the nude he or she would still set their highest standards.

After discussions with numerous swimwear manufacturers, they have come to the conclusion that the materials used were not conducive to producing super-human performances in the pool.
