The undefeated leader of the men's national basketball tournament, Flamengo, beat on Sunday the team of Iguacu Basquete by a score of 113-57.
Sunday's game was the opening of the ninth week of games of the men's tournament. Flamengo now holds to a perfect record of 11-0.
Although the team from Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo, had an ample lead, they recognized that Sunday's performance was far from perfect.
"We started the game well, however, we lost our concentration in the second quarter. We talked it over during halftime and returned to the court a little more aware and played better defense. With these adjustments, the team returned to display a high level of basketball and we ended up winning by 56 points," said the head coach of Flamengo, Paulo Chupeta.
The game's top scorer was Marcelinho, from Flamengo, who scored 32 points. For Iguacu, Douglas and Pedro each scored a team high of 12 points. Consequently, the team of Iguacu Basquete lost their 10th straight game and remains without a victory in this year's competition.
