Austrian Thomas Morgenstern won his second World Cup ski jumping
event in a row on Sunday with the day's longest jump at Sapporo,
Japan.
It has been Morgenstern's tenth win of the season.
The winner of Saturday's meet at the same place had a first jump
of 135 meters and then soared 139 meters on his second attempt at
the Okurayama large hill for a total of 288.7 points.
Finland's Janne Happonen was second with 272.5 points after
jumps of 128.5 and 134 meters, and Norway's Anders Bardal finished
third with 264.3 points.
After Sunday's victory, Morgenstern leads the overall World
Cupstandings with 1,455 points, beating Finland's Janne Ahonen, who
did not take part in the Sapporo event, by 610 points and Gregor
Schlierenzauer of Austria on a further 6 points gap.
