China's "queen of vault" Cheng Fei was crowned in the women's
vault competition at the gymnastics Olympic test event, the Beijing
Gymnastics International Invitational, here on Saturday.
The vault gold is Cheng's second on Saturday night after she
pocketed another gold medal in floor exercise.
Cheng, the triple gold medallist in last year's world
championships, won the vault gold with ease at 15.150 points out of
two attempts.
Cheng, 19, spearheaded Chinese women's team to its first ever
title before collecting two individual golds in floor and vault. "I
do not think I have presented my best performance today," said
Cheng after the competition. "But I am satisfied with the results."
"In the winter training I will make more efforts to improve my
skills," she said.
Hong Sujong from DPR Korea came in second in 14.450.
British gymnast King Marissa finished in third with 14.187
points.
Cheng, the captain of Chinese women team, brought China the only
title of vault in women's events at the Stuttgart worlds in
September.
She has won three vault world championships in a row.
