Home team China's Shandong Luneng beat Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma
from South Korea with 2-1 in the second round match in Group G of
AFC Champions League in Jinan Wednesday.
Both teams played aggressively in the first half but failed to
score. Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma enforced their attacks by using winger
Choi Sung Kuk in the second half but turn out to be
inefficient.
About 20 minutes into the second half, Luneng finally broke the
deadlock with a penalty kick by Zivkovic, but the visiting team
equalized 15 minutes later through Cho Byung Kuk's close range
shot.
However, only two minutes later Wang Yongpo of Luneng connected
a pass from right side into penalty area and completed the goal
with a bicycle kick.
With the victory over Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, Shandong Luneng
temporarily lead Group G with 6 points.
Besides Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma and Shandong Luneng, there are
also Adelaide United from Australia and Dong Tam Long An from
Vietnam in Group G. Only the group winners advance into
quarterfinals.
Seongnam defeated Vietnam's Dong Tam Long An 4-1 two weeks ago
while Shandong downed A-League side Adelaide United thanks to an
own goal to set up the encounter between the two east Asian
heavyweights.
