World number three Nikolay Davydenko and two-time grand slam
winner Marat Safin will spearhead Russia against Argentina in the
Davis Cup final to be played in Moscow next month.
Russia's team captain Shamil Tarpishchev also named Dmitry
Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny in the squad with Igor Andreev called
in as a substitute.
"Mikhail (Youzhny) finally managed to overcome his ankle
injury," Tarpishchev said. "He has already started practicing and
we can count on him in the doubles rubber against Argentina."
Youzhny was the hero of the Davis Cup final against France in
Paris four years ago, when Russia won the trophy for the first
time.
He came back from two sets down to beat Paul-Henri Mathieu in
the decisive fifth rubber.
"I still do not know exactly Argentina's line-up but it's
obvious that David Nalbandian, who is eighth in the world now, will
be our most serious problem in the upcoming final," Tarpishchev
said.
The final commences on December 1.
