All venues and auxiliary facilities for the Beijing Olympic
Games will be completed by the end of 2007 to ensure the normal
operation of test events.
Wang Wei, executive vice president and secretary-general of the
Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the 29th Olympiad, or
BOCOG, made the remarks at the on-going Beijing-Hong Kong Economic
Cooperation Symposium.
Construction projects are now under way with the completion of
the Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center Stadium, where some of the
preliminary Olympic football matches will be held.
In addition, Beijing's urban functions have improved and its
service capabilities boosted. A large number of infrastructure
projects, including highways and rail lines, have been
completed.
A total of 37 competition venues and 76 training facilities are
planned for the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
