Home favorites Lin Dan and Bao Chunlai both cruised into the
second round of men's singles at the ongoing China Open badminton
tournament.
Top-seeded Lin Dan, who won the Japan Open last weekend, beat
Japan's Nakanishi Yosuke 21-17, 21-15 for a first-round
victory.
The world number one faced tough attacks from his Japanese rival
and edged to a narrow four-point victory in the first set.
The two shuttlers played head-to-head in the second set and tied
at 12-all. Lin began to turn the tables by scoring two points in a
row and finished off with 21-15.
Lin's teammate Bao Chunlai had an easier match against Hsieh
Yu-Hsing of Chinese Taipei.
Fourth seed Bao eliminated Hsieh by winning 21-9, 21-9.
