Zheng Jie and Yan Zi, the last Chinese pair playing at the Australian Open, smashed their European counterparts to enter the quarterfinals of the women's doubles event.

The girls from Sichuan Province upset seven-seeded Elena Dementieva and Flavia Pennetta, 6-1, 6-2 to secure a spot in the last-eight stage.

The Chinese duo will take on the winners of the match between Svetlana Kuznetsova/Amelie Mauresmo and Virginia Ruano Pascual/Paola Suarez.
