Tom Daley and diving partner Pete Waterfield fell just one place short of a medal position in yesterday's 10m synchronised diving competition. |
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday for sending "malicious" Twitter messages directed at Tom Daley after the British diver missed out on a medal.
Police arrested the boy in Weymouth, southwest England, after Daley received the messages referring to his father who died last year from brain cancer.
A police spokesman said the youth was arrested "on suspicion of malicious communication. He is currently helping police with their inquiries."
Daley retweeted a message from user Rileyy_69 which said: "You let your dad down i hope you know that."
Daley responded: "After giving it my all... you get idiots sending me this..."
