Contestants: Wang Yihan, Wang Xin and Li Xuerui

Gold prospect: The three potential gold-grabbers above will be looking for a fourth straight Olympic title in London. India's Saina Nehwal and Denmark's Tina Rasmussen are also strong contenders.

● Women's doubles

Competition time: July 28 to Aug 4

Contestants: Yu Yang & Wang Li, Tian Qing & Zhao Yunlei

Gold prospect: The two Chinese pairings could be the closest thing the Chinese team has to a dead cert for gold.

● Men's singles

Competition time: July 28 to Aug 5

Contestants: Lin Dan, Shen Long and Chen Jin

Gold prospect: In terms of strength and experience, grand slam winner Lin is a good bet for gold. In addition, rising young star Shen Long and 2008 Olympian Chen Jin could also give China reasons to be cheerful.

● Men's doubles

Competition time: July 28 to Aug 5

Contestants: Cai Yun & Fu Haifeng, Cai Biao & Guo Zhendong

Gold prospect: China's two pairings go into the Games needing a significant improvement on past performances in order to have a chance of medaling. The competition appears wide open with no outright favorite.
