The London Olympic torch relay continued in Great Britain with a distinctly Chinese flavor on Saturday. Five Chinese torchbearers took part in the flame’s journey through the city of Manchester.

China Central Television anchor Bai Yansong was among those who carried the torch during the Manchester leg. Bai is a household name on the China mainland, and he took his turn in the town of Prestwich. Many Chinese residing in Great Britain cheered his appearance in the relay.

Taiwanese star Leehom Wang ran his stretch of the relay in the Manchester city center. The American-born singer-songwriter and actor was excited about getting a chance to take part. It is estimated more than four million people have seen the relay, with over 3,600 torchbearers involved so far. Wang felt honored to be chosen as a torch bearer and hopes Chinese athletes will perform at their best in London.

Wang said, "The Olympic torch in my hand and passion in my heart represents my sincere wishes to all the Chinese athletes. I hope they achieve good results. "

Bai said, "Several of us attended the relay, but there are many more Chinese compatriots around here. It’s great to share the joy with the British people and all other nations. We are part of the united effort to make the London Games great."
