The Miami Heat offered coach Erik Spoelstra a contract extension, the NBA club confirmed on Friday.

The 41-year-old entered his fourth season to coach the Heat and is also taking his 17th season with the team.

In his first three seasons, Spoelstra recorded 148 wins against 98 losses in regular-season games.

Last year, he led the Heat to a 58-24 regular season mark and into the playoffs where they lost the NBA finals to Dallas in six games.
