Chinese players put a double block. |
After a comfortable straight sets win over Kenya in the women's volleyball World Cup on Thursday, China is now gearing up for a final battle with Germany for an early entry to the London Olympics.
The Asian powerhouse wasted no effort in a 25-7, 25-15, 25-10 match that lasted only 53-minute. Chinese captain Wei Qiuyue was honored as the most impressive player in the match.
China had won all three of its previous meetings with the African champions and this time is no exception. The most recent victory kept them in a comfortable third place going into its last game of the event, facing Germany.
Germany is one point behind China, and the two teams will battle for third place.
The FIVB World Cup uses a round-robin format resulting in 11 matches over a 15-day period. The three teams reaching the World Cup medal podium on Nov. 18 will earn berths into the 2012 Olympic Games.
