Olympique de Marseille, France's Ligue 1 soccer club, extended on Monday the contract with coach Didier Deschamps until 2014.
"I decided to continue the adventure with Olympique Marseille and enroll in the duration by prolonging my contract with the club for two years," Deschamps was quoted as saying by RTL radio.
"Now I have the road map with its financial imperatives and I can prepare from today the most possible competitive team within a specific budget," he added without elaborating.
The 42-year-old former captain of French national team Les Bleus came to Marseille club in 2009, replacing the Belgian Eric Geret.
Under Deschamps, Marseille won French championship title and Champions Trophy in 2010 in addition to the League Cup in two successive years of 2010 and 2011.
