With four goals from the Colombian player Falcao, Porto defeated the Spanish team Villareal 5-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League semifinals.
Playing at home, Porto, called by the supporters as "the dragons" came to the match after a 12 match winning run. Villareal, due to the team's yellow shirts and shorts, is known as "the yellow submarine."
The two teams have the best attack in the UEFA Europa League. Before the match, Porto's Colombian player Falcao was the most productive scorer, with 11 goals, and Villareal's Italian Rossi was the runner up with 10 goals. The two coaches declared before the game that the match between them should be the Europa League final.
In the 45th minute, Villareal scored the team's first goal of the match. After a crossing from the right, Cani made the only goal of the team with a header. The equalizer came in the fifth minute of the second part. The Villareal goalkeeper knocked down Falcao inside the box. Falcao scored his first of the match in the penalty kick.
One minute later, another Colombian scored the turnaround goal. Guarin received the ball in the box, did his first shot and on the rebound scored with a header.
The third goal came after Brazilian player Hulk received the ball in the right of the box, dribbled his opponent and crossed for Falcao in the 6-yard box. The fourth goal came after Guarin crossed and Falcao dived for the header. The fifth goal was also a header from Falcao in a corner kick.
