Japanese men's doubles combination Hirokatsu Hashimoto-Noriyasu Hirata were the only non-China representative in the final. Unfortunately, they were not able to withstand the attacks of top seeds Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng, who won 21-12, 21-15.
Hashimoto and Hirata weren't the only Japanese to fall to the thee-time world champions who started their campaign on the right note after brushing aside Naoki Kawamae-Shoji Sato in the opening match on Wednesday.
In the women's doubles final, second seeds Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang showed no mercy as they outclassed team mates Tian Qing-Zhao Yunlei 21-13, 21-10 in the match that lasted just 33 minutes.
Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang were hardly tested in the tournament, having secured straight wins over all their opponents.
There was some excitement in the mixed doubles final as Xu Chen-Jin Ma gave first seed Zhang Nan-Zhao Yunlei a run for their money before losing 15-21, 21-15, 25-23 in a match that ran over an hour. It was sweet revenge for the second seeds who had lost to their team mates in the All-England final a month ago.
