Spanish first division soccer league side Sevilla said on Monday that their striker Luis Fabiano will be sidelined for about six weeks.
The Brazilian international strained a right thigh muscle during a weekend league match.
"Good news from the infirmary. Luis Fabiano's injury is not as serious as first thought. He has suffered a strain to the semitendinosus muscle in his thigh which will keep him out of action for six weeks," the club said in a statement.
The 30-year-old was stretchered off the pitch in the 71st minute of Sevilla's 2-0 loss away to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday after he landed awkwardly on his right leg.
