Former Real Madrid soccer star and Portuguese international Luis Figo visited Indonesia and appeared at an event called "Indonesia Dribbles a Ball" at the National Monument in Jakarta on Sunday morning, the Jakarta Post reported on Monday.
Figo, who was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2001, led thousands of participants in a warm up before leading them in an attempt to dribble balls from the National Monument to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and back again.
On Saturday, Figo conducted a coaching clinic session with students from soccer schools of Villa 2000, Ricky Yakobi and Gelanggang Mahasiswa Sumantri Brodjonegoro in the capital.
Several Indonesian national team players, including Firman Utina and Oktovianus Maniani, were also on hand to meet the former Real Madrid midfielder.
Snack food company PT Dua Kelinci, which is a local sponsor of Real Madrid, brought Figo to Indonesia as part of a deal with the Spanish La Liga side.
The company will also send several Indonesian national team players to visit Real Madrid's headquarters in Spain.
The next legs of the event will be held in Bandung of West Java, Semarang of Central Java and Surabaya of East Java.
