OCA Media Committee evaluates Games facilities and services

To ensure that the media facilities and services fulfill the needs of media during the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, Mr Manuel Silverio, Chairman of the OCA Media Committee and experts made a thorough visit to seven competition venues, including Zengcheng Gymnasium, Zengcheng Dragonboat Lake, Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou Equestrian Venue, Dragonlake Golf Club, and four non-competition venues, including MPC, IBC, Media Village and the Haixinsha Square, from 27 to 30 October 2010.

The guests conducted a comprehensive evaluation and examination of the different media aspects, including: IT and telecommunication, transport, accommodation, catering, signage, etc at the venues.

 Evaluation Visit to Main Press Centre of Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.

The aim of the Evaluation Visit was to ensure that the media facilities and services of the Guangzhou Asian Games have been prepared in accordance with the OCA Guidelines, making sure that the OCA standards will be maintained, if not perhaps surpassed at the 16th Asian Games. Mr Silverio, when interviewed at the MPC, indicated that GAGOC has made great efforts to ensure the MPC venue and its services meet the OCA standards. He further expressed his confidence that the operations of the MPC will run smoothly during the Games.

In conclusion, the Evaluation Team has communicated to GAGOC their appreciation for their hard work to prepare for the needs of the media, especially with their preparation with the Main Media Centre (MMC). The evaluation was conducted in accordance with the OCA Media Guidelines. Comments and suggestionson the facilities and services were provided with the aim to allow the media to enjoy the same MPC experience when they are at the venues' media centres. At Games time, OCA will continue to follow up with the media service operation.
