Serbia powers past China 3-1 in volleyball worlds.

Serbia rallied to defeat China 3-1 in pool E at the FIVB Women's World Championship at Yoyogi Gymnasium in Tokyo on Sunday.

China gained the upper hand in the first set but were unable to carry the momentum into the following ones. The Chinese dominated the early start in the last three sets, but they failed to forge a strong combination and maintain their advantages at the end.

Serbia built up defense against their opponents and harvested a fresh victory after winning straight sets.

"Our player had a tough match with Japan last evening and it was difficult to prepare for the match with Serbia," said Chinese coach Yu Juemin.

He said the Chinese players had tried their best in the match but they were overpowered by the height and jump serving from their opponents.

China ended Japan's unbeaten run on Saturday to win the first victory in the second round of the Championship.

The coach of Serbia team Terzic Zoran said his team prepared well for the game with China and he was satisfied with the players' motivation.
