Wukesong Arena
Wukesong Arena, located in Beijing, was the venue for the Beijing Olympic basketball preliminaries and finals.
Covering an area of 168,000 sq m, the arena has three floors underground and four floors above ground with capacity for 18,000 spectators.
All audience seats are upholstered for comfort and convenience. On the second floor, there are 45 luxury boxes, with 29 large ones and 16 small ones.
One of the many features of note is the funnel-shaped LED display system in the gym. It is the first set of comprehensive displays in China that is able to meet the demands of the NBA.
Not only are the standards met for basketball games, the LED system is also capable of being used for theatrical performances, real-time broadcasts and background imagery.
Guangzhou International Sports Arena
Guangzhou International Sports Arena is an indoor arena located in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. It has a seating capacity of around 18,000 spectators and 60 luxurious VIP boxes.
Covering an area of 65,000 sq m, it was completed last month.
The arena, designed by MANICA Architecture in partnership with the Guangzhou Design Institute, will not only host Asian Games events in 2010 but will also be home to a wide variety of world-class events such as basketball, international ice events and major music concerts. The building's design also specifically accommodates the rigorous standards of the NBA, a feature that will allow it to become home to the league's expansion throughout Asia. The flowing, natural curves of the site are translated into the building's harmonious exterior, and the soft flowing lines of glass and shining metal rise and fall as they spin and rotate around the building.
