Host to cross-town rival Palmeiras, Santos played out to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in the 27th round of the Brazilian soccer championship.

Palmeiras scored the game's first goal in the 20th minute. Valdivia rolled the ball off to Kleber who redirected it into the back of the Santos net to the crowd's disbelief.

Santos responded in the 52nd minute when Alan Patrick's shot-on-goal deflected off fullback Danilo and fooled keeper Deola who could do nothing else but watch as the ball rolled into the back of the net.

The result keeps Santos in seventh place with 39 points. In the 28th round, it will travel to face first place Fluminense on October 6.

Palmeiras dropped to ninth place with 39 points and will host Avai on October 7.
