Bayern Munich shocked Hoffenheim while Hannover edged Bremen 4-1

At the Bundesliga midweek matches, German giant Bayern Munich broke the spell against Hoffenheim thanks to Daniel van Buytens late decider.

Mainz joker striker Lewis Holtby scored two goals against Cologne to seal the 2-0 victory single-handed. At the other match on Tuesday Hannover edged Bremen surprisingly 4-1.

Hoffenheim needed only 36 seconds to catch the German record champion Bayern flatfooted. Bayern defender Diego Contento lost a tackle at his own penalty line against midfielder Sebastian Rudy who had no problems to pass into penalty area to unmarked striker Vedad Ibisevic. Ibisevic marked the opener when he slotted the ball into the close corner.

Subsequently, Hoffenheim defended deep while Bayern tried to find a gap inside Hoffenheims tight defence.

After the break Bayern pilled on the pressure to press retracted Hoffenheim into defence.

At the the 62nd minute Bayern' s effort were rewarded when youngster striker Thomas Mueller netted a ricochet shot by Hoffenheim goalkeeper Daniel Haas to level the score.

The Bavarians knew that a tie would just not enough for their standards. They kept it bowling and were rewarded at the stoppage time when defender Daniel van Buyten pressed the ball over the goal line after a cross by midfielder Hamid Alitintop to score the decider seconds before final whistle.

Bayern climbed from 9th to 7th position while Hoffenheim sits on 2nd position.

Bremen struggles after a heavy 4-1 defeat against Hannover. Bremen staged a false start when defender Clemens Fritz scored an own goal with only eleven minutes into the match to put his team one down. But, Bremen recovered nine minutes before break when midfielder Thorsten Frings converted a penalty from the spot to make it 1-1 on the scoreboards.

Hannover remained active and aggressive after the break so that they were able to stun Bremen again with the lead. Striker Didier Ya Konan had no problems to make it 2-1 after a one on one against goalkeeper Tim Wiese.

Bremen remained astonished and absolutely out of sort, consequently Hannover defender Christian Schulz and striker Mohammed Abdellaoue ensured the deserved 4-1 victory over struggling Bremen.

The victory heaved Hannover from the 7th to the 3rd position whereas Bremen slipped from 11th to 12th position.

At the other match of the fifth Bundesliga game day Mainz defeated Cologne 2-0 to defend their top position against passive Cologne. Mainz extended their winning streak to five victories to confuse the German Bundesliga.

Midfielder Lewis Holtby decided the match single-handed for Mainz when he was fielded at the 64th minute to score two joker goals. Holtby donated his first goal at the 72nd minute by header and the second at the stoppage time to seal the fifth victory in row for Mainz.

Mainz remains at the top of the standing, while Cologne climbed from 12th to 11th position.

On Wednesday Bundesliga the following matches will take place: Leverkusen versus Frankfurt, Dortmund versus Kaiserslautern, Monchengladbach versus St. Pauli, Freiburg versus struggling Schalke and Nuremberg against Stuttgart.
