Lin makes revenge over S. Korean Park at China Masters

Chinese top shuttler Lin Dan made a sweet revenge, beating South Korean Park Sung-Hwan 21-11, 21-17 in the first round of the China Masters Super Series badminton tournament in Changzhou on Wednesday.

Lin who lost to Park at the world championship, controlled the match from the beginning by taking the first set 21-11 easily with his power hits.

The second set once witnessed Lin lagging behind 7-1. Yet, the Chinese top men's singles player retained his calmness to claw back slowly but steadily. From 17-all, Lin scored four straight points to seal the victory.

"The first set went on quite smooth," said Lin after the match, "Although I met some challenges in the second set, I managed to come back and won the match."

On his revenge, Lin said that "competition just goes on like this. During the world championship, I didn't feel at home sometimes and I lost. Of course, I was a little bit disappointed."

In other matches of the day, seeded Chinese players Bao Chunlai, Chen Jin, Chen Long all won their matches without surprise, while sixth seed Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand became the only exodus of seeds when he lost to Hu Yun of Chinese Hong Kong in three sets.

In the women's field, top seed Wang Yihan of China defeated Pai Mas Hsiao of Chinese Taipei 21-15, 21-13, and her teammates Wang Xin, Li Xuerui, Xia Jingyun, Chen Xiaojia, Lu Lan and Wang Shixian, all won over their respective rivals.

However, eighth seed Wang Lin of China lost to Maria Kusumastuti of Indonesia due to injury.
