Turkey enjoyed its home team advantage and continued its undefeated streak with a 95-77 victory against France on Sunday.
Turkey dominated its last-16 game with a comfortable lead throughout the game, and will now progress to the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Basketball Championships where it will take on Slovenia on Wednesday.
The game took place in Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Stadium, which was filled to capacity with 15,500 spectators for the first time for a basketball game.
The first quarter started somewhat evenly, with Turkey taking a close 19-14 lead. However, Turkey picked up the momentum in the 2nd quarter, ending the first half ahead 43-28.
Turkey maintained its momentum for the second half, and even though France started to pick up speed a little in the 4th quarter, it was too little too late and could not keep the team from an 18-point defeat.
The games top-scorer was France's NBA star Boris Diaw of the Charlotte Bobcats with 21 points with 5 three-pointers.
Hidayet Turkoglu of the Phoenix Suns scored a team high 20 points for Turkey, including 4 three-pointers.
