Sevilla President Jose Maria Del Nido promised there would be no changes at his club despite failure to reach the group stage of the Champions League.
Sevilla lost 4-3 at home to Portuguese side Sporting Braga on Tuesday night to crash out of the competition 5-3 on aggregate. The club will now have to settle for a place in the Europa League and will lose money as a result.
However, Del Nido promised that he was not considering a change of coach so early in the season.
"At the moment there is no need to consider any change. I think that would be bad for all of us," he said on Wednesday, giving a vote of confidence to coach Antonio Alvarez.
"We take our decisions with calm and we don't allow ourselves to be carried away by impulse decisions. What we have to do now is think about working hard and getting out of this delicate situation."
"We have to accept the defeat and ask forgiveness from the fans," he said.
Meanwhile Alvarez insisted he intended to battle on.
"I feel I have the strength to carry on in my position. This is a really hard result to take, but it was always a possibility. I have confidence in this project and I still feel excited to be here," he said.
Sevilla kicks of its BBVA Primera Liga season with an away match against newly promoted Levante. Defeat in that game would no doubt increase the pressure that is mounting on the Sevilla coach.
