New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul said on Monday that he wants to stay with the NBA team.
Paul had been reportedly set to ask about a possible trade, but the guard said in a statement that he was pleased after a meeting on Monday morning with new Hornets coach Monty Williams, team president Hugh Weber and new general manager Dell Demps.
"The meeting went well," Paul said. "It was great to get an opportunity to sit down with coach Williams, president Weber and our new general manager, Dell Demps. I expressed my desire to win and I like what they said about the direction that they want to take the team."
"I have been a Hornet my entire career and I hope to represent the city of New Orleans and state of Louisiana for many years to come," He said.
Demps said he was confident Paul would stay with the club. Paul, 25, has two years remaining on his contract before he could opt out to test the free agency market.
