Fluminense extended their unbeaten streak to six after beating Santos 1-0 in the Brazilian soccer championship on Sunday.
Fluminense played a conservative game, focusing on limiting the charged Santos offense before they nailed the victory in the 83rd minute through Alan who ran down the field on a fast-break and stuffed the ball into the back of the net on an angled shot.
The win takes Fluminense to second place with 19 points. In the 10th round of play, the team will receive Cruzeiro on July 22.
Santos' s loss dropped them to ninth place with 12 points. In the next round of play, the team will travel to play Atletico-PR.
